The French Republic is a transcontinental country located in Western Europe and spanning over regions and territories in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans as well as the Americas. France borders Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Monaco and many others. The capital and by far the most important city of France is Paris, one of the world's preeminent cultural and commercial centred also called “The City of Light.” Other major cities include Nice, Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Toulouse, Marseille to mention but a few.

With an estimated population of over 67 million people, France is the 3rd most populous country in Europe. Most of the French people are of the Celtic-Gallic origin, with a significant mixture of Italic and Germanic groups reflecting centuries of respective migration and settlement. According to the constitution, the official language of France is French, a Romance language derived from Latin. France is a secular country in which freedom of religion is a constitutional right. French religious policy is based on the concept of laïcité, a separation of the church and the state although still the majority of the population are Christian. The French cuisine is known for being one of the finest in the world, a key element of the quality-of-life and the attractiveness of France. Each region in France has iconic traditional specialities: Cassoule in the Southwest, Beef bourguigon  in the Bourgogne, Choucroute in Alsasce etc. Frances most renowned products are wines including champagne and a large variety of cheeses.

With thousands of tourists flocking throughout the year, the best time to visit France is during the months of spring and fall season, i.e., April to June and September to November. Though, with pleasant weather, the spring season can be the ideal time to visit major attractions of France. However, you may also choose to visit this beautiful location during the autumn season. Summer in France is between June and August. It is the time when one can enjoy the beaches and also have fun in swimming pool. June is the best time to visit France for holiday. Winter season spans between November and March. It is the best time to visit France for honeymoon as Paris can be lovely during this season. It is the time in Paris when one can visit the museums and the major attractions without the issue of crowds. Even when the tourist spots are comparatively quieter the city and the restaurants are very lively. The city gets the vibe of Christmas with Christmas markets and decorations. These are the months when country side closes down and one should also be prepared for frequent rains.
